Energy Usage

The typical life cycle costs for a medium sized industrial pumping station are shown below. This information was obtained from the Hydraulic Institute (HI).

The energy usage will depend upon the number of operating hours per year. For example a fire pump may only operate during times of a fire, or when testing, so energy usage would be minimal and efficiency less important.

A major water pumping station may have a high capacity factor of 75%, and thus energy usage would be high, and efficiency very important.
